Summer Reading Program

National Aquarium in BaltimoreOn August 18, 2009 the Aquarium on Wheels Claw and Order entertainers performed a skit concerning a Sea Star’s home that is destroyed by waste and pollution that was discarded or dumped in the Chesapeake Bay.   The Sea Star receives help from a Coral Reef Estate Agent.  They travel the sea to find a new home for the sea star.  The essence of the skit was to remind everyone to lend a hand in not polluting the Chesapeake Bay.  There was also a demonstration with sea animals. This marvelous skit, which was the last of our Summer Programs for 2009, was an enjoyable experience.

Washington Village’s Summer Reading Program Closing Party was Stupendous!

The closing party was held on Tuesday, August 4, in the branch. The party menu included pizza, cake, lemonade and snacks for the invited summer reading participants. For fun, participants played games and prizes were awarded to the top three readers in the five summer reading categories. Prizes were tickets to the National Aquarium and the Baltimore Orioles' Game. With some baseball game tickets we conducted a raffle.

Parents, children and teens—all had an excellent time!
