The Collection

The Young Adult Collection houses teen fiction for recreational or assigned reading. All classics, popular fiction, series fiction, and graphic novels written for a teen audience are found in the Young Adult Collection. Some features of the collection are:

  • The YA collection includes a retrospective collection including teen fiction dating back to the 1940s.
  • The collection includes a wide variety of titles pertaining to the African-American experience.
  • There are a wide variety of Western and Manga graphic novel series.

The Student Express Collection contains teen nonfiction. In addition to materials to help with school assignments, this collection includes books on topics of high interest to teens such as self-help, social issues, teen sexuality, school-life, poetry, crafts, drawing, and popular music.

State Library Resources

The Library's Teen Site contains statewide resources including:

  • Homework Help resources
  • A listing of State Library workshops available for librarians, educators, and parents
  • Bullying resources
  • A portal to popular teen author blogs and websites

The Teen Specialist provides customized reading lists on any subject for educators, librarians, and individuals.
