The Edgar Allan Poe Collection

Edgar Allan Poe Collage

The Edgar Allan Poe Collection consists of 14 boxes of materials between the dates of 1770 and 1949 with the bulk of items dating from 1835 to 1900.

The collection provides a glimpse into Poe’s family life, and contains some of the most important primary sources surrounding his death in Baltimore.

Actual and authentic Poe correspondence, scrapbooks, illustrations, commemorations and reprints of Poe’s works can be viewed.

Despite his early death at the age of 40 years, Poe’s oeuvre left its mark on literature both in the United States and abroad.

Look through the whole Finding Aid to see detailed descriptions of the collection.

This collection is open for research. Please contact us at 443-984-2451 or email to make arrangements to see the collection.
