Sparrow on Easter CardGreeting Card Collection

There are over 7,100 cards in this collection. The majority (six of the ten boxes) are Christmas cards. The rest are dedicated to Valentine’s Day,  Easter, showers, graduations, and other celebrations.

Greeting cards open a window to the past to let us see a little of how people celebrated their holidays and how those celebrations may have changed over the years.

The notes inside often offer a particularly intimate glimpse of American family life and devotion.

This collection also lets us see over 100 years of the history of the greeting card industry, its growth and development.

Look through the whole Finding Aid to see detailed descriptions of the collection.

This collection is open for research. Please contact us at 443-984-2451 or email to make arrangements to see the collection.
