Baltimore City Directories online
From Special Collections at the University of Maryland.  About sixty digitized directories from the early 1800's to the 1920's.  While not every directory (Baltimore City directories were published from 1796-1964), these are a great place to start. 
Can be viewed online or downloaded in pdf or e-reader formats. 
Church Records 
The Maryland State Archives has created a Directory of Maryland Religious Institutions to identify religious organizations across the state. The Directory lists the church records in the Archives holdings.

Cemetery Records Online 
 Interment.net contains thousands of transcriptions of cemetery records and tombstone inscriptions from cemeteries across the United States.  This link  
takes you to the Maryland cemeteries page, which allows cemetery searching by county and includes some death indexes.

Useful for exchanging family research with other genealogists. There are more than 800,000 surnames submitted with about 700 additional names being added each day according to RootsWeb.
Social Security Death Index 
Find out when a relative died. This index contains the records of deceased persons who possessed Social Security numbers and whose death has been reported to the SSA..This index is accessed via familysearch.org
