The Hampden Library is located in the heart of a vibrant community, within a short walk of restaurants, boutiques, bistros, taverns, bookstores, the Hampden Family Center, the Roosevelt Rec and park and pool, and the post office. Other amenities close by include outstanding flea markets, the “Miracle on 34th Street” Christmas display extravaganza, neighborhood schools, the funeral parlor, churches and supermarkets. |
The Hampden Library presents a uniquely musical version of "Mother Goose Baby Steps" with a big emphasis on singing, and which is very well- attended. We have a volunteer “valet” who helps lift the strollers up and down the front steps as we do not yet have our ramp (although measurements have been taken for the ramp construction!). |
The Hampden Library is the second to the smallest branch, and is "small but mighty.” Our friendly, helpful and courteous staff strive to do our best to present the services of the Enoch Pratt Free Library to our community, including offering inter-library loan. (This summer when we obtained a book requested by one of our patrons, it arrived from Beijing, China!) |
The Hampden Library has a beautiful rose garden that is maintained by a volunteer, who weeds, mulches, prunes, and fertilizes, as well as picks up trash out of the roses shrubs. Others on our wonderful team of volunteers help with “Mother Goose,” help with shelving, help with inventorying the collection, and help out with lots of other tasks as needed. We love our volunteers! |
