Brooklyn's Special Olympian

Nathaniel Meet Nathaniel Sanders, a frequent Brooklyn Branch customer and Special Olympics champion.

A student at Mergenthaler Vocational Tech High School, Nathaniel is the proud winner of 1 gold and 2 silver medals in this year's swim qualifier.

In addition to track and field events, he has participated in bowling and speed skating programs.

His Special Olympics Aquatics Coach Phil Wetzler says "my experience with Nathaniel has been excellent." He is considered "a team player."

The Brooklyn Branch staff congratulates Nathaniel on his athletic achievements.

Congratulations to Baltimore's Teacher of the Year

On Thursday, May 13 Baltimore City Public Schools CEO Andres Alonzo visited Maree G. Farring Elementary/Middle School to inform third grade teacher Brian Rainville that he had been named Baltimore's Teacher of the Year. This is Mr. Rainville's fifth year of teaching and all of his experience has been at the Brooklyn school.     

In 2007 Miss Leah Waller, the first grade teacher from Maree G. Farring E/M, was given the same honor.

The Brooklyn Branch Library staff wishes to extend sincere congratulations to Mr. Rainville and wish him continued success in his teaching career.

Grab bags, treats, balloons for the children who sign up for the 2010 Summer Reading Program.  Reading  for fun -with fun activities throughout the summer. Begins on June 12 and ends August 7th

It's time to choose your books for summer reading.

Once again we will host a grownup segment of the Summer Reading Program.

The kickoff date is Saturday, June 12 and the program runs until August 7.
