Program Highlights

The Journey Records initiative includes:

  • Studio Time: Spend two hours a week in our state-of-the-art recording studio, where you can bring your musical visions to life and fine-tune your sound.
  • Business Workshops: Every Tuesday from 4 PM - 6 PM, dive into interactive sessions designed to equip you with the essential skills for a successful career in the entertainment industry. Work directly with industry experts to learn about artist management, marketing, and the business side of your artistic journey.
  • Culminating Talent Showcase: At the end of the program, you'll have the chance to shine in front of a live audience, showcasing your hard work and newfound skills! In addition, you'll have the chance to post your art on a distribution platform at no cost to you, allowing your art to reach new heights!

Key Details

Time Commitment: Four hours per week (two hours of business workshops, two hours of studio time)

Studio Sessions: Two-hour slots available each week to accommodate your schedule.

Program Objectives

  • Identify and nurture young music and entertainment talent within our community
  • Provide hands-on experience in songwriting, music and podcast production, recording, and performance
  • Provide opportunities for participants to distribute and showcase their talents
  • Foster supportive and collaborative workshops that encourage artistic expression, personal growth, industry knowledge, and the skill development required for a successful career in music, arts, and entertainment
  • Inspire Baltimore City youth to pursue alternative career goals

Mission

Journey Records aims to empower talented young individuals in our community and provide them with opportunities to develop their artistic abilities, gain industry experience, and pursue their passion for music and entertainment.

Program Components

  • Talent Identification: Organize talent showcases, auditions, or talent search events to discover young artists with potential.
  • Artist Development: Provide workshops, masterclasses, and mentoring sessions to enhance participants' musical skills and knowledge.
  • Music Production: Offer access to recording studios, production equipment, and professional guidance for participants to create and produce their own music.
  • Industry Education: Conduct sessions on topics such as copyright, music business, marketing, promotion, and networking to educate participants about the music industry.
  • Performance Opportunities: Live events, showcases, and concerts where participants can perform and showcase their talent to a wider audience.
  • Record Label Experience: Introduce participants to the process of releasing music, including distribution, marketing, and building a fan base

Who Should Apply?

Anyone with a passion for entertainment who is looking to grow both their knowledge and skill. Aspiring musicians, producers, engineers, podcasters, spoken word artists, and more are encouraged to apply!
