The new Johnston Square Branch project began with a groundbreaking ceremony on July 10, 2024 and is expected to last approximately 14 months. The new building, part of the Johnston Square Vision Plan, at 1100 Greenmount Avenue is a 109-unit, mixed-income multifamily building that will house families with incomes between 30% and 80% of Area Median Income and will include a new branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library on the ground floor. The Johnston Square Vision Plan, created by neighborhood residents and stakeholders, provides a roadmap for equitable neighborhood reinvestment.

The new building, pictured below in architectural renderings, will include:

  • Shared community room
  • A dynamic and responsive collection
  • Public access computer spaces and WiFi
