Johnston Square Branch Construction
A new branch of the Pratt Library serving the Johnston Square neighborhood as part of a new mixed-use building is coming November 2025.
The new Johnston Square Branch project at The Hammond at Greenmount Park began with a groundbreaking ceremony on July 10, 2024. This major project is a cornerstone in the ongoing community-driven transformation of Johnston Square into a model Baltimore neighborhood. With 109 affordable mixed-income apartments and a brand-new, world-class public library location, the building is an innovative model for pairing new high-quality, transit-oriented housing with a street-level hub of interactive public spaces for the entire community.
The Johnston Square Vision Plan, created by neighborhood residents and stakeholders, provides a roadmap for equitable neighborhood reinvestment.
The new Library location will include:
- Shared community room
- A dynamic and responsive collection
- Public access computer spaces and WiFi
