Anyone who lives or owns property in Maryland is eligible for a free Pratt Library card.
Nonresidents may obtain a Pratt Library card with acceptable identification and payment of an annual $50.00 nonresident fee. Applicants may print and complete the online application and mail it to: Enoch Pratt Free Library, Central Circulation 400 Cathedral St., Baltimore, MD 21201
Applicants must send a copy of valid identification, as listed below and a check for $50.00. The library card will be mailed to the applicant within 30 days.

There are no age restrictions for a library card applicants. Parents or guardians must sign library card applications for all children 12 and under.
The Pratt Library card may be used at public libraries throughout Maryland. Anyone carrying a valid library card from another public library in Maryland may register that card with the Pratt Library. Additional identification with signature and address is required.
The Pratt Library card is permanent. The cardholder's name and address must be verified every two years in person. Exceptions are Firm, Non-Resident, and Teacher Cards which must be renewed annually.
If you change your name, address, or telephone number, it is necessary to come to the Library in person to update your record.
If your library card is lost or stolen, please notify the Library immediately or within 48 hours(410-396-5325 or crc@prattlibrary.org). The cardholder is responsible for any items borrowed until the loss of the card is reported. There is a $2.00 fee for a replacement card.
Parents or guardians who sign for children 12 and under are responsible for materials borrowed by those children. Parents or guardians are responsible for monitoring their children's access to Library resources, including the Internet.
You will receive a Personal Identification Number with your library card. Your Pratt Library Card and PIN number will give you access to a wealth of services and online resources offered by the Central Library/State Library Resource Center and all Pratt branch libraries.
To renew items or review your account, you must have your library barcode number and PIN number available. A PIN number is assigned and emailed to you when you receive your library card. If you do not know or have forgotten your PIN:
An Enoch Pratt Free Library cardholder may borrow books, audiocassettes, compact discs, educational videos/DVDs, recordings, pamphlets and pictures in the library's collection.
Only cardholders age 18 and over may borrow 16 mm films and entertainment videos/DVDs.
First-time borrowers may checkout two books or one audiocassette, video/DVD, or compact disc.
Borrowers may checkout 30 items per library card at any given time. Customers may borrow no more than five items from the same library classification code.
The regular checkout period is three weeks. Some materials may have different loan periods.
Borrowers may renew materials online, in person or by phone at 410-396-5430. Entertainment videos/DVDs must be renewed in person.
Borrowers may check out six videos and six DVDs per library card at any given time. Adult and children's nonfiction educational and short children's videos may be borrowed at no charge for seven days. Entertainment videos/DVDs, such as feature films, television shows, and made-for TV movies may be borrowed for seven days for $1.50 per video/DVD.
At the Central Library's Sights and Sounds Department, 16mm films and some nonfiction videos/DVDs may be reserved one or more weeks in advance, for pickup at the Central Library or any Pratt branch library.
All materials except special short-term loans, framed pictures, interlibrary loans, filmstrips and slides can be returned to any public library in Maryland.
Materials not owned by the Pratt Library may be ordered for customers though interlibrary loan from other libraries.
All library materials should be returned on or before the due date. Other people may be waiting for these materials.
Fines will be charged daily on each overdue item.
Replacement costs plus processing and collection fees will be charged on lost or damaged items.

Teacher Library Cards
This library card is for those who teach in Baltimore City. This includes teachers of the Baltimore City Public School System, private schools, parochial schools, licensed day care centers and nursery schools. Registered home school parents are also eligible for this service library card.
