Free Tax Help


Tax Preparers from the Baltimore CASH Campaign will again use the Pratt Central Library as one of their tax preparation locations in 2014. Individuals and families who earned $52,000 or less in 2013 qualify to use this service.

Taxes are prepared by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please visit bmorefreetaxes.org or call Baltimore CASH at (410) 234-8008 between 8.30am and 9pm.Tax preparers will be on-site at the Central Library Monday through Wednesday, Fridays & Saturdays, beginning Saturday 1/25 and ending on Saturday 4/12. The library will be closed on Monday 2/17 in observance of President's Day.

IRS Digital Daily
The Internal Revenue Service site provides a variety of current tax information and assistance. Forms, instructions, and publications dating back to 1990 are available in Adobe PDF format.

Homeowners' and Renters' Tax Credits
The Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation provides information on this site on how to apply for these tax credits, including downloadable forms.

Forms at the Library

The Central Library and most Branch Libraries distribute the more commonly used 2013 Federal tax forms and instruction booklets, free of charge. Other 2013 Federal tax forms and instructions can be printed off the IRS Web site for $0.10 a page. The first five pages are free. 

The Central Library also distributes free copies of IRS Publication 17, "Your Federal Income Tax" and IRS Publication 334 "Tax Guide for Small Business" for 2013. These publications provide more extensive explanations for filling out certain Federal tax forms.
