Writers LIVE! Series

SIZZLING SUMMER OF AUTHORS AT THE PRATT

Best-selling authors include Hill Harper, Dhani Jones and Ben Mezrich

BALTIMORE – It’s going to be a hot and sizzling summer of authors as the Enoch Pratt Free Library’s Writers LIVE! Series heats up with several award-winning and best-selling writers.

Ben Mezrich, Sex on the Moon: The Amazing Story Behind the Most Audacious Heist in History
Wednesday, July 20, 7pm, Central Library Wheeler Auditorium

The author of , which was adapted in to the movie , returns with a new book, . The book is about Thad Roberts, a fellow in a prestigious NASA program, convinced his girlfriend and another female accomplice, both NASA interns, to break into an impregnable laboratory at NASA and help him steal the most precious objects in the world: the moon rocks. Mezrich has pored over thousands of pages of court records, FBI transcripts, and NASA documents and has interviewed most of the participants in the crime to reconstruct this Ocean’s Eleven–style heist, a madcap story of genius, love, and duplicity that reads like a Hollywood thrill ride.

Dhani Jones, The Sportsman: Unexpected Lessons from an Around-the-World Sports Odyssey
Tuesday, July 26, 6:30pm, Central Library Wheeler Auditorium

Now in his 11th season in the NFL, Dhani Jones has had an unusually long career for a football player. Just a few years ago, however, Dhani thought his playing days were over. Cut by the Eagles and the Saints, he was at a professional crossroads. When the Bengals called, though, he was more than ready and in the best shape of his life. And for that, he credits his off-season.

The Sportsman follows Dhani's discovery that the parts of his life that, to many, seemed to be distractions -- including an off-season TV show that sent him around the world to learn and compete in other sports -- actually served to cross-train him in ways he'd never imagined. It made him more grounded, globally aware and, most surprisingly, a much better football player.

Hill Harper, The Wealth Cure: Putting Money In Its Place
August 25, 7pm, Central Library Main Hall

After a stunning thyroid cancer diagnosis, Hill Harper was forced to come to terms with what was really important in his life. Suddenly all the cars, homes, and accolades no longer mattered. In The Wealth Cure, Harper presents a new definition of wealth, motivating readers to not only build financial security but to also achieve wealth in every other area of their lives.

Hill Harper, an accomplished film, television and stage actor, stars in the CBS series, CSI: NY. He is the author three bestselling books: Letters to a Young Brother; Letters to a Young Sister; and The Conversation.
