Teen Library Board
The Teen Library Board is an experiential program through which teens will earn service learning hours, learn leadership skills, gain mentorship from Library leaders and board members, and contribute to teen initiatives at the Pratt Library.

Program Details
The Teen Library Board is a nine-month program open to Baltimore City teens currently enrolled in grades 9–12.
The Board will meet from October 2025 to June 2026. Applicants accepted to this program will have the opportunity to earn 26 service learning hours, with the possibility for more hours through attending extra events and activities.
Throughout the program, participants will:
Meet with Library leaders and board members to learn about the Library and the role of the Library board, explore career paths, and develop connections with potential mentors
Work with Library staff to gather feedback from Baltimore teens about how they use the Library and what types of programs and services they’d like to see in the future
Plan and present a library program for teens, gaining real-world experience with project planning, budgets, and marketing
Meetings
The Teen Library Board will meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from October 2025 to June 2026, with a break in December. These meetings will focus on the creation of the Teen Library Board’s program for teens and gathering teen input on Library initiatives.
From January 2026 to June 2026, the group will also meet on the 4th Wednesday of the month to connect with Library leaders and board members to learn about their work, how they support the Library, and their unique career paths.
All meetings will take place at the Central Library (400 Cathedral Street, Baltimore, MD 21201) from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, unless otherwise noted. Dinner will be provided at all meetings.
Program Requirements
To participate in the Teen Library Board, teens must:
Live in Baltimore City
Be currently enrolled in grades 9–12
Be able to commit to attending the monthly meetings
