Teen Library Board
The Teen Library Board is an experiential program through which teens will earn service learning hours, learn leadership skills, gain mentorship from Library leaders and board members, and contribute to teen initiatives at the Pratt Library.

Program Details
The Teen Library Board is a eight-month program open to Baltimore City teens currently enrolled in grades 9–12.
The Board will meet from November 2026 to June 2027. Throughout these eight months, participants will:
Plan and present a library program for teens, gaining real-world experience with project planning, budgets, and marketing
Meet with Library leaders to learn about the Library and the role of the Library board
Explore career paths, learn leadership traits, and gain valuable insight into workplace skills
Work with library staff to provide feedback about library resources for teens, including speaking with the Library Board and other Library leadership
Meetings
The Teen Library Board will meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from November 2026 to June 2027.
Meetings will emphasize a fun, welcoming, and inclusive environment. Activities will include planning related to the Board-created program, group discussions, presentations about the Library, and meetings with Library leaders. Teen Library Board Members will have the opportunity to speak at Library Board of Trustees and Directors meetings.
All meetings will take place at the Central Library (400 Cathedral Street, Baltimore, MD 21201) from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, unless otherwise noted. Dinner will be provided at all meetings.
Program Requirements
To participate in the Teen Library Board, teens must:
Live in Baltimore City
Be currently enrolled in grades 9–12
Be able to commit to attending the monthly meetings

The Earl Teen Center at the Central Library is an inclusive, safe space aiming to enrich the lives of Baltimore teens.
