Children of all ages can earn prizes for reading and learning this summer!

Register for the Children’s Summer Challenge beginning Wednesday, June 17. To participate and track your progress online, register with Beanstack at Or, use the paper game board, available as a printable PDF below, to log your reading and activities.

You can also find paper game boards in the July/August edition of Compass, or you can request for one to be mailed to you by contacting one of the Pratt Library Sidewalk Service locations. Game boards are also available at the Baltimore City Public School Meal and Learning Packet Sites.

The Children’s Summer Challenge is divided into two programs: Read to Me is designed for ages 0–5, while School Age is designed for ages 6–12. When registering online or printing your game board, please select the appropriate option for your child.

  1. Select and complete any activity from the Activity List. For every activity that you complete either click the checkbox next to the activity on Beanstack, or color a rocket ship on your printed game board to mark it as complete.
  2. Once you have logged 12 activities on your paper game board, put your game board in an envelope and drop in any Pratt Library book drop. If you’re logging activity with Beanstack, you do not need to drop anything off at a physical location.
  3. Keep going! Complete 48 activities or 4 game boards total to earn a $5 gift card.
