Social Worker in the Library
The Enoch Pratt Free Library, in partnership with the University of Maryland School of Social Work and Morgan State University School of Social Work, is pleased to offer an innovative program that serves the community by providing access to social work services. Our social workers are available to help all library patrons, especially those experiencing challenges related to finance, mental health, or other stressors, with resources and referrals.


Available Services
Social workers at the Library can:
- Meet with library patrons on a one-on-one basis, either in person at select branches or over the phone
- Provide a compassionate space to discuss needs
- Determine an action plan for addressing needs
- Assist with completing applications
- Assist with connecting library patrons to other community organizations and resources, including other Social Impact programs at the Library
Social workers at the Library cannot:
- Provide clinical services or therapy
- Provide direct financial support
- Provide direct services outside of referrals
- Make eligibility determinations for social service programs
