One of the great advantages of smartphones and tablets is the ability to access information anytime, anywhere. Increasingly, libraries are joining the world of mobile access by making their resources available to customers on the go.

Pratt Mobile Web
Pratt Library has its own mobile web app that users can store on their smartphones and tablets. It accommodates the smaller screens of mobile devices. The Pratt Mobile Web app provides access to library hours and locations, staff recommendations, the events calendar, your personal Pratt account, and much more.

Add this valuable resource to your smartphone or tablet by visiting http://prattlibrary.mobi on your mobile device.

OverDrive Media Console
You do not need to have an eReader to borrow eBooks from the library. Library customers can access Pratt’s expanding eBook collection using the OverDrive Media Console app. Users just need to authorize the app with an Adobe ID, then select their library to find the Pratt collection. Readers can borrow eBooks and digital audiobooks within the app for reading anytime.

Get the OverDrive Media Console app to begin accessing thousands of eBooks. There are apps for most of the popular devices, including iOS devices, Androids and Windows Phone.

EBSCOhost appEBSCOhost App
One of the more powerful resources Pratt Library offers its customers is its research database collection. Databases allow users to find information from a variety of reference materials in a convenient electronic format. EBSCO, a database publisher, offers a mobile app that links to the databases to which the Library has subscribed. Users can receive an authentication key in an email message, which is used to authorize the app for a period of nine months. This provides complete access to a variety of EBSCO databases, including History Reference Center and MasterFILE Premier.

Visit one of the EBSCO databases through Pratt’s website, then go to the bottom of the webpage, and click on the link iPhone and Android apps. Enter your email address in the box that appears. The email message will contain instructions about getting the app and obtaining the authentication key.

Another database publisher Pratt Library uses is Gale Cengage. Gale publishes databases like Biography in Context and Literature Resource Center. The Access My Library app allows library users to link the library’s Gale collection to their smartphones and tablets. The databases are searchable from within the app.

Download the app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, and select "Enoch Pratt Free Library" from the list of libraries that appear when you open the app.

Students of all ages have the opportunity to chat live with tutors using the HelpNow service through Pratt’s website. Users who create an account in HelpNow can also keep up with their studies using the Brainfuse app. Once logged in, the app will display current progress, and updates and notes can be submitted through the app for tutors to see. Students can submit questions to tutors and receive responses through the app.

Download the app from the Apple App Store and log into your HelpNow account to get started.
