Rachel Scheuerman

Chief of Staff

Rachel Scheuerman is the Chief of Staff at the Enoch Pratt Free Library, helping oversee 23 Baltimore City neighborhood libraries and the Maryland State Library Resource Center. A Pratt employee for nearly 25 years, she serves as a key member of the Executive Administrative Team, driving strategy, coordinating initiatives, and ensuring seamless operations across the system. A trusted point of contact and problem solver, Rachel manages key projects from multimillion-dollar capital initiatives to day-to-day organizational needs ensuring that people and priorities are aligned with the Library’s mission.

Rachel has coordinated major library renovations including the creation of two new library branches from concept, to build-out, to ribbon cutting. She continues to lead a multi-year initiative for capital improvements at several library branches funded through the American Rescue Plan. Rachel represents the library in community engagement initiatives to ensure services meet the needs of the community. She will soon lead the Library’s Strategic IT Plan, all while continuing to be the go-to resource for Pratt’s more than 400 staff members. 

Since joining Pratt in 2001, Rachel has served in a wide range of roles, including Executive Operations Coordinator, Special Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer, Information Access Division Special Assistant, and Circulation Manager. Her dedication and impact have been recognized with the Library’s highest honor, the Baker Award (2014), as well as the Behind the Scenes Employee Award (2011).

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Rachel has called the Baltimore area home for more than 25 years. She takes great pride in supporting the Library’s mission by bringing complex projects to life and creating the conditions for staff, partners, and patrons to thrive.
