Gale’s Archives of Sexuality & Gender: LGBTQ History and Culture Since 1940 contains over three million pages of fully-searchable, rare and unique sources illuminating the experiences of LGBTQ individuals and groups of different races, ethnicities, ages, religions, political orientations and geographical locations. There is also significant coverage of feminism and women’s rights campaigns and concerns during this period.
Enoch Pratt Free Library access to Gale’s Archives of Sexuality & Gender: LGBTQ History and Culture Since 1940's includes two archives, searchable together in one database.
Part I brings together approximately 1.5 million pages of primary sources on social, political, health, and legal issues impacting LGBTQ communities around the world. Rare and unique content from newsletters, papers, government documents, manuscripts, pamphlets, and other types of primary sources sheds light on the gay rights movement, activism, the HIV/AIDS crisis, and more.
Part II provides coverage of underrepresented communities within the LGBTQ community, including LG student groups, Two-Spirit people, the Jewish LGBTQ community, LG Christian groups, and bisexual, transvestite, and transgender communities. This archive provides access to oral history transcripts, diaries, and letters that provide a deeply personal and human interpretation of the LGBTQ experience.
