Erik Thompson
Chief Operating OfficerErik Thompson joined the Pratt Library in August 2025 as Chief Operating Officer. A native Baltimorean with a BA in Architecture from University of Maryland College Park, Erik has decades of experience working with universities, colleges, municipalities, and professional sports teams to serve their communities in the most efficient and effective ways possible. His projects have included helping build LEED Platinum-certified buildings in Washington D.C. and aiding in infrastructure recovery efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Most recently, Erik served as Vice President for Campus Operations at Goucher College in Towson, MD.
In his role at the Pratt, Erik oversees Information Systems, Building Services, and Public Safety. His office’s goal is to increase efficiency, expand impact, and escalate performance standards of our operations by being responsible stewards of the resources entrusted to the Library using innovative and practical methods to assess needs and develop realistic expectations. Erik is most looking forward to serving our community and thereby enhancing our great city. He is excited to help ensure all Baltimoreans have access to the services, information, and opportunities that only libraries can provide.
Erik spends most of his free time with his wife and two dogs. He enjoys learning about opposing viewpoints, reading, gaming, and supporting the Ravens.
