Cynthia MonahanDirector of Institutional Advancement
Cynthia Monahan joined the Pratt Library as Director of Institutional Advancement in October 2014. She oversees all private support for the library including gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations, as well as all fundraising campaigns and affinity giving groups. She also leads two major fundraising events each year, the Black & White Party and Mr. Pratt Presents, and strengthens strategic partnerships that advance the mission and work of the library.
Under Cynthia’s direction, her team has concluded the successful Campaign for Central Library Renovations, and cultivated the Pratt Contemporaries, a young professionals group now 12 years old. They have also expanded partnerships and financial resources to launch several new initiatives including the Mobile Job Center, One Book Baltimore, Wash & Learn Initiative, Social Worker in the Library, and Books for Me. She will continue to work to expand private funding to meet the growing demand for free programming and resources.
Cynthia enjoys that the library is a resource for all of Baltimore regardless of status or background. She finds working to provide crucial, potentially life-changing resources to our shared community to be extremely gratifying.
Prior to this role Cynthia was Director of Development at Center Stage Baltimore. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Masters of Arts degree from Towson University.
