David Joe Miller was born in the upper east region of Tennessee. As a child, he heard many colorful stories from members of his family. His repertoire includes personal and family stories of humor and recollection, regional Southern folklore, and foreign folktales for children of all ages. He travels widely with his stories and often conducts workshops in storytelling. In addition to schools, libraries, and storytelling festivals, he has entertained audiences at such places as World Bank, Disney, Citibank, Library of Congress, Harvard University, Smithsonian Institution, and others.

For number of years he lived in Jonesborough, TN where he was active in the National Storytelling Organization now known as the International Storytelling Center, telling stories and working on applications for storytelling in education, writing and corporate communications. He is a member of several storytellers’ organizations. David is a full time professional storyteller, freelance writer and artistic director of DeeJum Live Productions. At present, he lives in Philadelphia.
