Michael FriedChief Information and Technology Officer
Chief Information and Technology Officer Michael Fried joined the Pratt library in August, 2021. In this capacity, Michael oversees the Pratt's operational and strategic technology and digital equity work. This includes user support, engineering teams, data and privacy work, technology training, digital navigation, and related work. Additionally, Michael oversees SAILOR, the Pratt Library's state-wide technology project. Under his leadership, the Pratt is working to improve the delivery of our core services, find ways to bring the library to more people, and bridge the digital divide to engage residents in learning and curiosity.
Prior to this role, Michael was CIO of the Baltimore City Health Department, where he created the TECHealth civic innovation program connecting startups to city challenges. He also lead the City's tech response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the modernization of the Health Department systems, and implemented a data warehouse and analytics program across the Health Department.
Michael enjoys being among colleagues so focused on the Pratt's mission, and being around so many people who all care deeply about service they provide. He holds a Masters from Johns Hopkins in Information Security, and lives with his wife, two kids Landon (6), and Lucas (5), and their cat and dog.
