Announcement All Pratt buildings are currently closed because of COVID-19, however remote and contact free services are available.

Location Closure Library services at the Southeast Anchor Library will be unavailable from Monday, October 26 through Tuesday, November 3 for early voting and the general election. It is the only Pratt location being used as a Baltimore city polling location.

Pratt Library's Road to Reopening

Librarians are busy checking out books and other media for customers to get by mail or Sidewalk Service.

Temporary Policy Changes

During the library closure, we have made the following updates to our policies:

  • Standard due dates will apply to any materials borrowed through Sidewalk Service. Materials borrowed through Books By Mail will have a standard loan period of 6 weeks.
  • Please return materials to our contact-free book drops. If you are returning a mobile hotspot or tablet, please make an appointment using Sidewalk Service to arrange a drop-off.
  • Customers needing an extension on their due dates may contact their local branch. Extensions on interlibrary loans may not be allowed.
  • Customers will not be referred to our collection agency during the library‚Äôs closure.
  • Any library cards due to expire will remain active during the closure.
  • The Library is currently unable to accept donations of materials due to COVID-19. Please do not place donations into book drops at this time.
  • The Pratt Library is following best practices provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) by quarantining all incoming materials. All returned materials are placed in quarantine for five (5) days. Staff will begin checking in items after the 5 day period is complete. Depending on the day returned, you should expect to see items removed from your account after one (1) week. You may still enjoy your full borrowing period, items are backdated in our system to account for this delay.
Extended Borrowing Privileges for Downloads & Streaming Media
  • Kanopy: temporary checkout limit: 15 per month for all other Kanopy titles.
  • Hoopla: temporary checkout limit: 15 per month.
