Teen Department and Student Express Collection and State Library Resources

General Information

The Student Express and Young Adult area of the Central Library is dedicated to serving middle and high school students. Featuring books, magazines, computers and a seating area, this space serves as a home base for teens using the library for research and recreational reading.

Young Adult

The Young Adult Collection, located on the first floor,  houses the fiction for recreational or assigned reading. All novels for middle and high school students are found in the Young Adult Collection.

Student Express

The Student Express, located on the mezzanine, is where all nonfiction for middle and high school students is found. In addition to materials to help with school related assignments, this collection includes books on topics of high interest to teens such as self-help, social issues, teen sexuality, school-life, poetry, crafts, drawing, and popular music. There is also a large collection of Japanese manga and graphic novels. This area of the library also features a reference section, science projects, and Cliffs Notes. The Student Express area includes a seating area and 8 public computers reserved for middle and high school students only.
