The Business Center offers both individuals and businesses a wide variety of resources for the investor, small business owner, potential business owner, business researcher, executive, and student.
With an Enoch Pratt Free Library library card or a Maryland county library card registered in the Pratt system, you can use any one of these resources, including our excellent collection of business-related databases, either on the premise of the library or from remote locations with an Internet connection.
We have a number of research databases for the investor, such as NetAdvantage, published by S&P, Mergent Online (which now includes the D&B Million Dollar Database), and Value Line. These databases have for the most part replaced the print versions of these resources.
For the entrepreneur there are three databases that may be of interest: Gale's Business and Company Resource Center, Access Business, and Reference USA.
Along with these electronic resources is an extensive collection of research print resources, such as the RMA's Financial Benchmark Ratios, D&B's Industry Norms & Key Business Ratios, Lexis Nexus' Corporate Affiliations along with materials for demographic research.
Our collection of both circulating and reference literature on business, management, marketing, personal finance, investment, and economics is comprehensive as well as historically significant.
If you need assistance with any of these resources, for example using the databases, feel free to contact a librarian in the Business, Science, and Technology department for assistance at 410-396-5317.
