I, Matthew Henson Carole Boston Weatherford - smallIn Becoming Billie Holiday, Carole Boston Weatherford's poems trace the singer's journey from B-girl to jazz royalty.  Her first book for teens, it is illustrated with cinematic, sepia-toned art by Floyd Cooper. Weatherford will also talk about her recent children's book, I, Matthew Henson. 

Carole Boston Weatherford was born and raised in Baltimore. She has written many award-winning books for young readers. She teaches at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina.
