The Enoch Pratt Free Library tent at the 2013 Baltimore Book Festival was a huge success. Not only did we have a variety of authors, guest speakers, and guest performers, but we also had four different stations that were available around the clock for customers to engage with: library card sign up including the First Card for children under 6 years, a showcase of our digital eReaders nicknamed “the digital petting zoo,” the Pratt Library photo booth where eager readers snapped their portraits with our over-sized library card and told their library story in a video, and of course our giant chess board!
A big thank you to all our authors and performers—you are what made our event unique and allowed us to demonstrate the strength of what libraries do best: spread knowledge to others. Thank you to all the book fest volunteers—Pratt Library staff, volunteers, and workers—you help to make the Pratt Library family strong. We had over a hundred new card sign ups, close to 200 people snapped their picture with our card, and many more checked out our eReaders, attended our author events, and played chess at our board.
Looking forward to next year when we will see you all again!
Until then, we have posted these two videos to commemorate the Enoch Pratt Free Library at the Baltimore Book Festival in 2013.
