It’s that time of the year again, when box office smash hits from Hollywood reign at movie theaters. Here at the Pratt Library, we are showing our own smash summer blockbuster flick! Get ready for huge lizards, giant insects, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
If you celebrated the 4th this year, treat yourself to an encore experience and come down to the Central Library at 2 p.m. this Saturday, July 6, to watch Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. This screening is part of the library’s Free Family Flicks series, the once-a-month film series for the whole family that shows in Wheeler Auditorium.
The new journey begins when Sean Anderson receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island where no island should exist — a place of strange life forms, mountains of gold, deadly volcanoes, and more than one astonishing secret. The secret is rumored to involve Sean's missing grandfather, Alexander Anderson. Unable to stop him from going, Sean's new stepfather joins the quest.
Together with a helicopter pilot and his beautiful, strong-willed daughter, they set out to find the island, rescue its lone inhabitant and escape before seismic shock waves force the island under the sea and bury its treasures forever.
The movie was directed by Brad Peyton in 2012, is 94 minutes long, rated PG, and stars Dwayne Johnson, Josh Hutcherson, and Vanessa Hudgens.
