Did you know that the Pratt Library currently has over 2,500 photos and other images on Flickr? Flickr is an online photo sharing website for anyone to share their images, or to share information through images. In our Flickr photo stream, you'll find images of visiting authors, events for kids, beautiful building details, and examples of Baltimore's past from our collections.
Sometimes we use pictures to tell a story, or just to capture everyday scenes, like the morning light catching one of our staff members coming to work on her motorbike, ephemeral spring flowers outside a neighborhood library, or little details that catch our eye. You may find special areas of the library that you haven't seen yet, or maybe they're old favorites.
You may have read that we have a wide variety of meeting rooms for your group to rent. You can see what they look like on Flickr. You've heard that we have an annual book sale, but without seeing it did you have a sense of how big it will be?
Other types of image you'll find include scenes from our events, artwork and displays, and scanned vintage photos and postcards from Baltimore's past.
Many of our photos are geotagged so you can see where they were taken on a map, and some have "notes" for you to discover when you hover your mouse over parts of the image. If you have the free Flash player installed in your web browser, you can view any group of photos as a slideshow. See what inspires us by checking our Favorites from others Flickr.
We'd like to encourage all of you, our customers, to share your photos of and about your Pratt Library experience. For that we created the Flickr photo group, called Your Enoch Pratt Free Library. If you already have a Flickr account, please share your photos today! Here are some favorites from our visitors. If you don't have an account yet, you can log in with your Facebook or Google ID, or sign up for a Flickr account through Yahoo: it's quick, easy, and free.
Everyone is invited to join our group, Your Enoch Pratt Free Library, and share Pratt Library photos there. You'll be happy that you did, and so will we!
