All groups are open to new members, and everyone is welcome. All book selections are available in the Library's online catalog.

Brooklyn Branch Reading Raves

At each meeting, each group member brings a book to pitch to the group. The goal of this group is to share book recommendations, rather than to prepare one book in common. In September of each year the group will read the One Maryland One Book selection.

Central Library Book Discussion Group

Central Library | Monthly; varying Saturdays @ 10:15am

This group has been meeting regularly for over 15 years. Each member can suggest books for the reading list, which is confirmed one year at a time. Members also share "book notes" most months, with sketches of the plot and comment, criticism, and/or author biography.  In September of each year the group will read the One Maryland One Book selection.

Forest Park Branch | Fourth Wedsnesdays @ 1pm

Members read a suggested title on Mixed Media: eBook, book, or audiobook. A staff member will lead the discussion. In September of each year the group will read the One Maryland One Book selection. No meetings will occur from December to February.

Members meet every other month, starting in January, for informal conversation about the chosen book. Everyone is welcome, even if you haven't read the book. Members read a mix of fiction and non-fiction, and take turns recommending books.
